I happen to have a need as many as 250 of these:

In my search, as you can tell, I've found them to be sparsely available.
I'm curious about any other places to look.  eBay is useless.  Can I
just call LEGO and make a special order?  Am I just out of luck?

Thanks.

I think you're out of luck. According to
http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/3035 , the one and only time these showed up
in a set was in the Galaxy Commander (6980) from 1983.

LEGO's customer service only has parts from sets made in the past few years.
LEGO does not have a mechanism to custom order bulk parts.

Good luck in your hunt.
Cary
