Sounds sort of like the mechanism I've used to make launcing torpedoes on
a submarine I "LDrew", which was based on the "space cannon" from my
website:

Choose 'Space' from the left, the choose the 'Interstellar Battleship'.
From there, go to the 'Space Cannon'.
