hiya,
Sorry if I come across as abrasive... I didn't really didn't intend it to
be. I was just responding spontaneously and with complete honesty. I guess
that stems from my experience during art critiques over the years. I really
don't appreciate it when people hold back and just say the positives and
skirt around anything difficult, like a negative personal reaction to the
work or a noticable flaw. I suppose the fact that you have a background in
the art world is what clicked me into 'critique mode'... and that you want
to take Lego building to new places, I think requires some serious
conversation on what it means to be a Lego builder in society and in our own
little subculture of AFOLs.

We must have pretty different building natures :) I *can't wait* to take
my stuff apart the second I finish my sorting fingers start to itch!

Seriously... the only way anything I build stays together longer than a
couple weeks is if people talk me into it. I hate leaving stuff together...
it takes up space, it claims parts, and I feel like my collection is
disorganized until everything is taken apart. Although that means I also
feel like building the second I get even *near* organization. I'm kinda
wacky now I think about it... maybe you shouldn't take my advice!

I think you misunderstood... if someone wants to be the "legomaster" and
become known as a Lego Artist... I'm cool with that. I wasn't dissing the
idea when I used the word 'novelty'. There's nothing wrong with novelty to me.
shoot... I have to go, but I hope that clears some stuff up.
later!

| Joel thanks for your input, I appreciate it comming from a great builder like you, although your advice seems a little abrasive. You rasie good points, and I know what you mean, it's sort of like I'm asking if it's "okay" to take it apart, I know. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)
