One method I can see is using the 2/3 finger plate hinges as a mean to
connect the upside down bricks to the rest.  They will leave a visible
sign on the outside, namely the rounded hinge ends.

Here's a technique I thought up awhile back in response to a similiar question.

It's kind of limiting since you need to use a 2xN brick to make it work, but
it's completely seamless and quite strong.

Also, I've somewhat invented a new piece!  A double sided plate (studs on
both sides)!  What I did is take a baseplate and cut two pieces out of it
and then glue them, back to back.  The new piece ends up JUST shy of a plate
thick (without the studs), so it's pretty usefull.  I've made a couple and
I'm getting my technique down so that they look good too.  Heh, I may start
selling them on brickbay. :D
