Well, for attaching arches upside down, I found that a 1/2 techic peg
inserted into the arch worked well:

The bottom 2x6x1 arch is upside down. At the bottom of the arch is just
tiles. It leaves a little space, but not much...

One method I can see is using the 2/3 finger plate hinges as a mean to
connect the upside down bricks to the rest.  They will leave a visible
sign on the outside, namely the rounded hinge ends.
