  Re: The Spamcake Diner

Hehe... very cool. Except... you need a closeup pic of someone eating some Spamcake. ~Mark (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf, lugnet.trains, lugnet.publish, lugnet.build)

  Re: tightening up mecha joints

(...) Silicon tape should work well. You can findn it in the plumbing section of a hardware store. It is a white tape (no sticky) about 3/8" wide. It is very stretchy and will conform very tightly to any shape. It's used on the threads of pipe for (...) (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New Mega Bloks Reviews in Brief

(...) AAIIIEEE!!! INFIDEL!!! (...) Well, maybe I'll let it slide. ;^) In all honesty, I'd like to see Lego make some mecha. Using the Throwbots ball-joint parts, it wouldn't be hard for them to make some pretty cool mecha. ~Mark (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.build)

Re: What is that mysterious green thing?

(...) I'm working on a four-legged robot tank that would easily take him on. <evil grin> (...) I've had to go completely TL6 in order to have enough power to get my mechs standing on their own legs. Why is that unfortunate? Later, Gino A... (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: tightening up mecha joints

(...) I saw your suggestion about the cling wrap before and I used it on my own mecha to make the friction pins fit tighter in place. It works great! My mecha can stand up on his own now! =) He can aim his gun for days without ever lowering his (...) (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: tightening up mecha joints

I use Saran Wrap, personally, but I suppose any thin material will do. ~Mark (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: tightening up mecha joints

(...) Well, it's kinda annoying to do, but something I did for my mech (the legs would just bow right out when I tried to pose him) was a method using paper slips. I cut some very narrow slips of paper, and for each technic pin joint, I would stick (...) (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: gun1 project

(...) Well, it could be done, but then the barrel seems useless - it'll only stop the piston with friction. The long barrel is only an advantage when you use compressed air (in a pneumatic gun) or other compressed gases (in a regular gun). I really (...)   Re: What is that mysterious green thing?

(...) Or a bat glider to stand and fly on. And a stocking hat with a very long top/tail. And big ears. (...) Looks very cool. More organic than most mech. Or have I just not been paying attention. Steve (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

New Mega Bloks Reviews in Brief

Hey Y'all: There are some WAY cool new Mega Bloks sets out right now. Fail to buy them at your own risk -- they are better by far than Lego's own Throwbots or Znap lines, are about even with some other system sets, and are even better than some (...)   Re: gun1 project

(...) Could you use a hammer mechanism to launch the projectiles, or are you focused on a pneumatic solution? It seems easy enough to imagine a setup with a magazine of piston heads, a spring-loaded striking rod, and a rotary device to cock the rod. (...)   tightening up mecha joints

What's the best way to tighten up technic friction pin joints used for mecha? I have an old-style technic pin (a little tighter than the newer ones with the rectangular cutouts) holding the shoulders and hips of my new mech together. The shoulders (...)   Re: gun1 project

(...) Great job Randy, looks like he's practicing good gun control(i.e. how to point, aim, and fire! He'd intimidate even a Columbian drug lord. These LEGO's are truly amazing. -Harvey (24 years ago, 17-Aug-00, to lugnet.build)
