  Re: 60 degree problem

(...) That was a help, thanks Larry. I just never had thought of its name before. (...) Yeah, I've got a bunch of those, but I always seem to run out of the black ones... (...) Lucida Console is all I use in discussion groups. But it still wasn't (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

AucZILLA term for this is 2x2 - 1x4 hinge plate (or brick, it also comes in a brick version) (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) like (...) the I've got a couple of what I would call a 2x1 hinge set[1]: ___ _ ___ |___|= _|___| Now, I'm only getting started and don't have a lot of sets, so I could have only gotten them from my Mindstorm RIS, 6572[2], 8222, 8226, 8735, or (...) (...) normally (...) to (...) a (...) 1/3 (...) 2x2 hinge plate? In which set can I see this little monster? I have one like it, but it's a 2x2 plate turntable with fingers. I would also like to see the parts labeled in your ascii diagram, cuz I (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

(...) I think so too, but even so, TLG hasn't departed from their module... The loop on the old version was narrow enough that if you put a 1x1 tile on each side, the resulting width was exactly the same as a 1x brick in width.... the new version (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

(...) If no one has said it yet, technic half-beams have sockets that go all the way through them, and are useful for stud entry on both sides. They are slim enough so that the studs from opposing pieces practically touch each other. Another thing (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

Josh Spaulding wrote in message ... (...) I'll take this opportunity to ask if others think the newer 8-tooth gears slide on axles as if they were a worm gear (slight exaggeration). There is very little friction to hold a 8-tooth in place. I am (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

(...) well, an ugly solution would be to use 1x1 Plates w/ Horiz. Side Loop. This causes some problems, though, because the cylindrical part between the opposing studs on the loop won't match the smooth face of the bricks you'll be connecting. (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  60 degree problem

I've got a design problem that I'm having a hard time working around - normally I'd just drop the design, but this one has such great possibilities I'd hate to have to do that. I'm building an articulated 3-claw foot, based off of 1x4/2x2 hinge (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

The subject is under discussion in lugnet.build, which I would posit as a better group. The 1x1 with side stud is capable of changing direction in just slightly larger than 1x2 brick space. (it technically takes two of them plus a 1x1 plate) (...) (26 years ago, 12-Jan-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
