I constructed this microscale Chinese pagoda as a centerpiece for a dinner party (for 25!) that we hosted two weeks ago. It isn't accurate to any specific pagoda, but is broadly based on some of the techniques and styles I observed in some source (...) (...) Another idea might be to change the way the MOC is being presented. The biggest risk at shows I've been to is kids not understanding the toy/can-touch and display/cannot-touch difference. (...) This is a great question. I think a retail display case or a museum case would probably work best. It is an expensive solution for a LUG, but perhaps the venue has some available, or you can pick one up at a store that is going out of (...) I always build my stairs (even the straight ones) with a 2 plates step height except if it's a stair in a square in front of a church for example (in that case (...) Here's a solution I came up with a few years ago that uses a 2 plate riser...of course that's easily accomplished with many plate/tile combinations, but at least it's not as steep as a full brick. Personally, I make robots and they are "hands-on" items, so I don't want stanchions around my stuff at all. But, as you noted, the event (...) While at BrickFestPDX 2007 last weekend it occurred to me that there was a problem with displaying microscale MOCs and vignettes. The public were being kept behind stanchions at arms-length from the tables on which the MOCs were displayed. I moved (...)
