  Re: MC Escher

Brilliant. I am still trying to work out how you did that... which shows how close you got to the originals : ) God Bless, Nathan Visit my brickshelf gallery: (URL) (pic=link) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

I will separate it into two true 8x8 bases, one for Ymir, one for Odin. Fair? Buri was the first man. His son Bor married Bolthor's daughter of the frost giants. She was called Bestla and her three sons were Odin, Vili, and Ve. After slaying Ymir, (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

I looked at your vignette and got started! Since I didn't read straight through my handy manual of Norse Myths, I have to use the index. Ah, here it is: Odin, eye lost by: page 15. In the Yeti's ears you can put Viking horns, or flames. Lego thinks (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, lugnet.castle, FTX)

In lugnet.build.microscale, Tim McSweeney wrote: <snip> (...) Yeah, I had quite a few variations for the track construction, a full snot one as you've illustrated among them. I opted for the studs up style to give the impression of gravel between (...) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Micro Steam Engine

(...) Yeah, when I eventually get some time I'd like to experiment with Peer's magnetic propulsion idea. The rail system might require a few modifications, especially in how the space between the rails is constructed, but I'm pretty sure it could (...)   Re: Another fine Brickshelf find: InterCepter

That foot design is so simple, but so perfect for a mech that size. I will have to steal that. Kerouac rules. (19 years ago, 8-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: A new MOC: The Hayabusa

I saw the thumbnail on Brickshelf and recognized your style immediately. I'll second the comments about the back, I like the hoses, greebs and the podracer fins on the legs and back. I also like the knee armor, although I would suggest that you (...) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

(...) Don't worry about making it a true vignette, you could always make a larger scene or building including beautiful details and call it a... what did we used to call those?...   Re: Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

Nice work. A little graphic but all round very creative... the use of the yeti is brilliant! My only Q, why does Odin always get the headline? What about his brothers? Do they have names?   Re: Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

(...) Ah! Another Viking Vignette. Wonderful. I especially like the use of the Yeti as the frost giant. Great idea. Only two minor complaints/issues/suggestions. Fit it on an 8x8 base, so its a true vignette. And two... your Odin has two eyes ;) (...) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, lugnet.castle, FTX)

Odin slays Ymir the frost giant

Odin and his brothers slay Ymir and the frost giants. From Ymir's wounds come rivers of blood, drowning and nourishing all things. Odin and his brothers escape the torrent in a ship... (URL) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.vignette, lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: 2006 sets

(...) I agree. When I saw these new planes I felt thoroughly disappointed and uninspired. My hunch is that they're looking to put a 5+ age rating on the box. And if that's the case, I can't blame them for thinking they have to juniorize something. (...) (19 years ago, 7-Oct-05, to lugnet.town, lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: 2006 sets

(...) Agreed. But is there a point where the pieces are so large and so specialized that it loses the creativity? That plane nose reminds me more of Playmobil than an open-ended building toy. (URL) -Steven (19 years ago, 7-Oct-05, to lugnet.town, lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: 2006 sets

(...) Wouldn't this be where the "creativity" comes in? If I'ma kid, and I see how I can build a 4-wide plane, wouldn't I recognize that a wider plane would be better, so I'll look at all my parts and figure out how to make a wider plane? (plates & (...)
