Here's my take on some Eschers:

Beautiful!

Belvedere:

I've already had your Belvedere as desktop background since you announced
it, it's very close to the Escher original (I'm just missing the stairs in
the lower right). There's just the little problem with the leftmost
pillar...

Ascending and descending:

This one is almost perfect! Are you using the same trick as Andrew Lipson?
It's difficult to see. Both yours and his have the problem of the camera
angle being a bit too much from above, compared to the original. I suppose
this is ncessitated by the used trick?

Waterfall:

This is the one I like best, for some reason. It will be on my desktop
background for a while. With some more work on the lighting, maybe you could
get rid of some of the shadows that give the trick away?

Relativity:

Although perfectly well executed, I must say I prefer Andrew Lipson's [1]
colorful version (It has been my main desktop background since I first saw
it). The perspective shifts and all little details are hard to see in your
monochrome version.

All IMO, of course!

Thanks.  Yeah, I'm using Lipson's trick for "Ascending Descending".  And yeah,
lighting is tricky for "Waterfall".  As well, I agree that Lipson's "Relativity"
is cool.
