  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) I agree. Down with compartmentalized dorkism! There was similar sillines (IMO) in .space when people wanted to come up with standard rules for defining different types of spaceships, ignoring the fact that these MOCs by different builders were (...)   Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) I was talking to Janey Cook about this very issue just recently; she had told me that some people wished to have some sort of established levels of scale. I told her this idea was silly. What I like most about micro-scale is how free-form it (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Brickfest

(...) That is a ring world created by Lenny Hoffman. Its a huge ring around a planet or star, that rotates, with gravity produced by centrifugal force (centripedal?) Its a common concept seen in Sci-fi novels, although Lenny's is ridicolously out of (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) That entirely depends on what technology you want to speculate on. Power armor would require an incredibly powerful and small power source. I suppose that is a given if you are saying that power armor would exist. The problem with power armor (...)   Brickfest

Hi all, I've been poring over pictures by "scrope" in this folder: (URL) great stuff! I really need to build more at this scale. To me, the best of show is this train station: (URL) built that? Was it a COLTC group creation, or was it an individual? (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) In the storyline I've been "working up" for twenty years now (!!), in fact, I do use both. Part of the reason is that I tend to think that bipedal combat machines would have to develop very high levels of flexibility and survivability before (...)   Re: Halloween Contest ?

(...) For what it's worth, I think that'd be fun, and I'd probably enter too. But I'm just a newbie... how do these things work? Who hosts a contest, and how is it generally run? Best, - Joe (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Tribute to Masamune Shirow

As a fan of Masamune Shirow and Appleseed I always wanted to build a Landmate. It was a bit tricky to keep it close enough to scale. I am mostly pleased with the results but I will keep trying to improve it. I was working on prototypes for (URL) (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) Another thought is maintainability and cost. Consider that WWII Germany was able to produce several tank destroyers for the cost of a single tank, simply because the expense of the turret went away. As the end of WWII approached and money (...)   Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) Those are all powerful advantages but I think that tanks are more efficient at providing an armored and enclosed area because they're closer to a spherical shape than a power suit, and because they get mass fraction advantages. Anecdotally: (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)
