The Study of Spring: Study 14

At the last LUGOLA meeting I told the gang "I'm going to take some photos and tear it(the bridge) down." Well, I came close. My goal has been to place an arch beneath a curved deck and (URL) Study 12> was a first go but just wasn't quite it. I tried (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: How do you guys do it?

I've only been out of my dark ages for about two years. It was the Star Wars sets that caught my eye. I bought a couple and remembered how much fun LEGO is!! The next step for me was downloading instructions from Brickshelf.com for the old sets I (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build)

Re: New Mecha - The Klymyth

(...) Gait matrix is an old Robotics 101 term. It is representation of the temporal sequence of leg motions that a robot needs to walk without falling over. It gives the legs their coherent propulsive movement. Any autonomous walker needs to have (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: **New MOC**

(...) sorry i didn't post this earlier, but i really like this mecha.it has a very disproportionate "anime"look exemplified by the large feet and hands, narrow torso, and long neck. it's almost "cute". is this a replica of an actual anime mecha or (...)   Smallest smooth cube challenge

So, out of curiosity, I started toying around with the smallest possible Lego-cube that is smooth on all sides. IE no studs, stud holes, technic pin holes, etc showing on any of the 6 faces. Getting a 6x6x6 stud cube wasn't too hard... a 5x5x5 was (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.schleim)

  RE: Ribbed panel construction idea

There are 2 versions of the 1x2 with handles...1 is dropped by 1/2 a plate height and the other is level. -----Original Message----- From: news-gateway@lugnet.com [mailto:news-gateway...net.com]On Behalf Of Jason J Railton Sent: Thursday, March 25, (...)   Re: New Mecha - The Klymyth

(...) I understand what you are saying. I think this depends on the vertical range of the gait. The higher rise of the feet, the more the quad tips when using three feet to balance. Could you please educate me about "gait matrix"? I've not heard of (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

I had thought that, t would reduce the rare piece count but would reduce the strength (actually it reduced it in one direction and increase it in another, hmm does it even need the strength there?)   Re: Ribbed panel construction idea

(...) It's an interesting idea. You could alternate 5-studded 'dalek' bricks with 1-stud technic 'tumble-dryer' bricks along the centre line. Have you tried building this for real yet though? I thought that all the 1x2 plates with handles had at (...) (21 years ago, 25-Mar-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Ribbed panel construction idea

While working out how to do the ribbed sides common on many modern locomoives I hit upon using this part (URL) After a serious of experiments to get the offset right I eventually came up with this design (URL) This basis can be scaled to suit, this (...)   P-38 Contest Entry: SA-380 Dragonfly MOC

Hello, I've finally gotten around to posting pictures of my entry for the space P-38 contest. (URL) (click the pic for post mod b-shelf folder) This craft is an attack fighter/light bomber.   Re: New Mecha - The Klymyth

(...) It depends on what you mean by inherently stable. In a mathematical world of pinpoint feet, the two feet on the ground might not be stable, but a Lego four legged walker probably wouldn't keel over while following a gait matrix. In the worst (...)   Re: New Mecha - The Klymyth

(...) ahhhhem. Quadrapeds are only inherently stable if the feet are big enough. If you break the four legs into two leg groups, worst case scenario is two feet on the ground. You'd better makes sure the center of gravity is within the diagonal (...) (21 years ago, 24-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
