  Re: An Eviller N33dle

(...) Between the pointy tip and the round cockpit right behind, it really looks like a syringe ready to inject its 3vil dron3 payload. Nice! The guns and greebling look cool too, and... is that an ancient cog gear in the middle?!? (Though I would (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New guy + First Mech

Wow! First mecha? It looks like you've been doing this for awhile now. Welcome to .space with joint tech. :) I don't really have any criticisms with this model save the colorscheme, but you've already explained why that is, so I'll let it drop. I (...)   Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

Just for the record, notched axles work just fine... as long as you use enough of them. Quick experimentation showed me that using 6 or more produces a combined friction that holds the structure together quite tightly, even with the notched axles. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build)

Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

(...) Congratulations, you win...um, you win...well, you don't win anything, actually, but that pretty efficiently takes care of most of this discussion (though it would probably look better in 2x8 bricks). I'd thought about using pins to do the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

(...) I actually don't know. Does it? I've never read the books (I found that quote while looking for any page that actually listed true dimensions), and I don't believe I ever watched 2001. I remember watching 2010 when I was still pretty (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

<snip> (...) I am of the belief that you guys are nuts! :) (No offence intended) the simplest solution, as far as I can work out, is to build it for the most part studs up, and use some 2 stud long technic axles inside the inner tubes of the brick, (...)   Re: Proportions for a 2001 Monolith in LEGO?

(...) Well yeah... but it would be interesting to build one of the correct _physical_ proportions, if only to say that you did it. (As has been established, this works out to 2 studs wide, 8 studs across, and 15 brick-heights high.) (...) Yes... (...) (21 years ago, 24-Jan-04, to lugnet.build)
