Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Ooops... You know what? You're right! I think I mixed up a couple different posts in my head. Yes, it was Kevin's suggestions I was thinking of. Thanks! (...) Ditto! Allan B. (21 years ago, 30-Dec-03, to lugnet.build)

(...) AND Kevin S.!!! he had more suggestions than I did. :-) (...) Three good ones! You forgot one more: 4. (at least this works in town and trains) scale the scale back.. Dial up the selective compression... make that model office building only 4 (...) (21 years ago, 30-Dec-03, to lugnet.build)

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) I think the subject of money has been covered elsewhere in the thread. But the subject of time can also be a tough nut to crack. Finding time can sometimes be hard but it can be done, as sure as you can find time to change the oil in your car, (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build)

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) -Major Snippage- (...) To further what Larry P. mentioned in a previos post, as well as Kevin Salm's above... I've had the experience of placing my own 32 foot long cable-stayed suspension bridge of 33,000 LEGO pieces in the front window of a (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Welcome aboard, Dave! I don't have much to add to the wisdom already dispensed on this thread, but here are a few other suggestions to help you in your building (some of these may be repeats). 1. Start with a cool first name. (You seem already (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Japanese Koi

I got to see this in person at NWBC 2003. It rocked my pants then, and it rocks my pants now. The use of dirty clear and trans-orange parts for scales is too cool. I always look at sculptures like this with a certain awe, hopefully soon I'll have (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: How do you guys do it?

Nick (...) I have no idea what the size of my collection is, other than it's a bit bigger than comfortably fits in the room it's in (which currently also houses me and a laptop, which shall soon expand to a full-sized pc workstation). I bought some (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build)

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Dave, As someone who is slowly getting back into building, the biggest turning point in getting back on the horse was sorting my collection. It was less than 40k pieces at the time, and it took a while, but here are the benefits: - In "dustin' (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build)

  Japanese Koi

Well, just for look see. Thought i'd post a link to a sculpture I completed not too long ago. Japanese Kohaku Koi with the Sandan pattern (URL) is roughly 3 1/2 ft in length. It has probably the right body mass size for a real koi of mature age, of (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.general) !

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Many great suggestions by others..... I do a lot of mutations. Start out with something, get and an idea on how to change it, change it. Try something else throw it out, try again.   Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Many excellent suggestions have been given to you so far. They are all good ideas. As for getting more Lego to build with, you don't have to consider buying more Lego to be a major purchase. If your cash flow is small, just buy Lego in small (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Firestorm

(...) VERY nice model. I liked the way you used all the slopes, gave it a very rough and jagged feel to it, but it kept the shape simple. The boosters are also VERY cool. I also really like the back mounted weapons, i assume you are going to make (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  B.I. Joe's new face

Well...perhaps not a new face entirely, but a spruce up splash graphic. For those old skool fans, an attempt at recreating a 'brickified' version of the classic 'Slient Interlude' #21 Marvel comic. (URL) Cheers, -Gil (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Basically just throwing in a 'right on' to all that's been said. Only thing to add is that you've already taken the most important step, and that is joining this community.   Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Experiment. Build. It sounds simple, and that's all the really is to it. What I find helps me is I keep a project list of some projects I'd like to work on. Some of them have came to be, others have just sat around in pieces. For example, I (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.build.ancient)
