Re: MOC: a.c.e.r. Insertion Mech Unit w/ msg for curator

Thanks so much Paul! The intention of this guy was to go into mass production to allow the a.c.e.r. Custodians a way to get as many troops to the trouble as possible with overwhelming force. The small wing nose piece finally made this canopy useful (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

that is the coolest li'l mech i've ever seen it looks ez to build, and ezily replicatable i.e. one could have multiple copies of them post some instructions if you can plz the hinge/canopy connection on the nose is one of the most useful ideas i've (...)   Re: Biopede...Trying to understand Bionicle

(...) What's up dude I think I've met you i live in atlanta too. You probably don't remember me though because everytime I buy lego I act as if I'm shopping for a kid...it's pitiful. Awesome moc though. I find that while i don't like bionicle sets i (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.technic.bionicle)

Prepackaged Lego Mosaic - Color distribution?

Does anyone know the color distribution in the (4) prepackaged mosaic sets? I'm getting antsy to build my custom mosaic, and since they do not appear to be offering custom kits, I thought I'd try to see if the prepackaged sets would suffice. I tried (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

(...) Truly magnificent, Lindsay. The LEGO scaling is amazing, the attention to detail superb. (One of my favourite details are your spoked wheel drums. I've already built a few - it's always good to find new uses for common (and seldom used parts). (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

  Minifig sculpture renderings

After building a sculpture of a minifig ((URL) wanted to make more. However, since it could take a while to get enough bricks together, I decided to see what a smaller scale would look like. So I designed an LDraw version: (URL) I'll be able to (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) Yeah, the exaggerated size of the head compared to the body and the little pink cat smile provide the charicature elements, I suppose. (...) LEGO Ringo is a lot better about holding still for photos, it's true. @8^) Our secret for (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Well, the real cat *was* that size at some point a few years ago, so it could have been a perfect 1:1 model, except he grew up. (...) I didn't (...)   Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

Re: MOC: a.c.e.r. Insertion Mech Unit

Woah, Gil's moving in build.mecha territory... I'm getting nervous... ;-) Dude, this little guy is awesome! I love how the legs flow so seamlessly into the rest of the body. Plus, it's compact form makes it ideal for transport and mass production. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Ringo the Cat: my first attempt at LEGO sculpture

(...) I think it's a darn pretty nifty likeness. Just enough caricature to make it interesting. But I want to know, how did you get RealRingo(tm) to pose alongside LegoRingo(tm)?? We can never photograph our cats, they won't hold still long enough. (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: MOC: a.c.e.r. Insertion Mech Unit

Thank you sir! I'm glad you recognized the SM-388 in this as it was indeed an inspiration for it. Actually, I first had the thought to do this mech after I built the Bodkin fighter using the JSF canopy and 'miniboat hull' wedges. With a workable (...)   Re: MOC: a.c.e.r. Insertion Mech Unit

Thanks John! You nailed it with the notice of the oversized hips. I found I had to puff them out a bit to make up for the lack of upper appendages. Some of the design is inspired from the Zetradi mechs of Robotech Macross, smooshed together with (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: MOC: a.c.e.r. Insertion Mech Unit

Mnay thanks Stephen....the levers were an afterthought, but I liked how they looked. Originally there were hoses from the knees to the back of the thigh area, but it restricted the posability.
