Re: Question, opinion, help - Claw Hands

Nice! I used the same worm gear set up in my hand design I settled on. Co-inky-dink. Thanks for the input! Eric (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Mech grammar

Mark Neumann has a very good explanation on his page: (URL) = anything here: (URL) = (URL) a mech is more like Battletech, with a large, bulky profile while mecha are usually more sleek in comparison. I'm guessing that the plural form of "mech" (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Han Solo's blaster

Yeah, that blaster is amazing. =^) Stuart has been posting at LUGNET for I think a year and a half or so. Mostly in the mecha section though. He's tied up with non-lego stuff currently so he doesn't have the time to post, but lucky for us, he's (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Question, opinion, help - Claw Hands

Sorry for the slow reply, but here's a 2 claw hand I built a while back. It's worm gear driven so it's fairly strong. There's an LDRAW DAT file that show how it went together HTH, JSM (URL) Sophie <mylegomaster@cs.com> wrote in message (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Mech grammar

(...) My understanding they mean the same thing, the usage depends on the story context. In Patlabor, the mechs are actually called 'labors' (Patlabor is short for 'Patrol Labor'). Since there are so many mech universes, I think just about anything (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Mech grammar

OK, you builders of mecha. I'm the first to admit I know nothing about them, but I was just wanting to appease my enquiring mind. After reading quite a few posts here, I've seen "mech" and "mecha" used almost interchangeably. I always thought "mech" (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Slow day, huh?

(...) Vent away, Jacob! Want proof that it happens to other people? Witness this BricksWest 2002 picture (URL)- I had just turned my back after adjusting my mecha so it would be ready to show off during day two of the mecha sessions. I heard a 'pop' (...)   Re: Announcing 'Nyaneo' - The first ever Land Of Bricks MOCM!!

Great Job to both of you! Eric, I love the model and keep pouring over the pictures on Brickshelf. Mark, I've loved the site since the day you put it up and now you're featuring models on it! Very Cool! -Dave (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.general)

  Re: MoTW

(...) Eric, you can thank your adoring public for the honor. I recieved more requests for the Skittles Squad to be MotW than any other mecha creation. Two of the emails said they wanted to nominate you because of the 'build-a-bot' gallery you set (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Question, opinion, help - Claw Hands

Ok, here's what I came up with. It's a three finger claw deal, offshoot tech from the Super Mech-Bot. I like it. Dual z24 single Worm Gear drive in the center of the hand acuates the fingers. The Mechanical hinged fingers feature a multiplexed (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.robotics)

  MoTW

Yeah! The Little Bots got a spot in the sunshine! Shine shine shine let it shine! Whooo hooo...!!! Awww, thanks, this is great! And for my next trick, I'll make a Jamocklaquat. (URL) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Slow day, huh?

I hear ya, everytime somthing like that happens to me, I humor myself and say: Oh well at least I know how to put it together better, it's like I memorized it. Frustrating and Learning. Eric (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Slow day, huh?

*sigh* The worst thing that could possibly happen, has! I am work on the minor details for my new mecha, and the entire thing just up and collapses! Now, I am not one to complain, but this is like second time I in the past week that this has (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Of ABS and Lego Hinds

(...) Thanks Geordan. My plans for a LEGO Hind started the second that I saw that canopy piece and were cemented when I saw the Republic Gunship kit. The chunkyness in the tail is directly related to the front section design. To get the cockpit (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Of ABS and Lego Hinds

You beat me to it! ;-) Looks great Bryce! The JSF cockpit piece is perfectly suited to the Hind IMHO, I really like the front half of the model, although the tail seems too chunky to me, I like the missile tubes under the wings, very clever idea (...)   Of ABS and Lego Hinds

(...) This is one of the biggest hurdles that I will run into if I ever try to convert my MLCAD designs. The beauty of using MLCAD is that any number of parts are available to me in any number of colors, while in real life, some parts just don't (...)   Re: My MOCs in ABS

(...) Thanks Bryce for your kind words and of course for the dat-file of the A-4. Making a ABS version the three-colour IAF variant is not as easy as I first thought. For the moment there are no triangular plates of any kind available in tan, and no (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.military)
