Making a ABS version the three-colour IAF variant is not as easy as I first
thought. For the moment there are no triangular plates of any kind available
in tan, and no double slope parts (4857) used for the intakes in either tan,
green or brown. I am thinking of substituting the green parts for dark grey
or maybe sand green, but in any case I must redesign the intakes with other
parts.

I don't criticise you Bryce for using unavailable parts. In the LDRAW no
colour is forbidden. On the contrary I very much like the challenge to
overcome these problems. Finding and presenting acceptable solutions is what
makes the Lego hobby so great.

This is one of the biggest hurdles that I will run into if I ever try to
convert my MLCAD designs.  The beauty of using MLCAD is that any number of
parts are available to me in any number of colors, while in real life, some
parts just don't exist in the colors I use.

I think that your idea of using the sand green official color in the IDF
color scheme is a great one.  This coloring would go even better with the
IDF F-16's, which from the pictures that I've seen have a very light shade
of grey-green as their third camoflage color.

You've hit the nail on the head Mattias by saying that building with Lego is
a series of compromises.  I am constantly finding myself making various
decisions concerning accuracy versus structural integrity.  Perhaps
unfortunately, with MLCAD, there is little that I can do to check on the
structure of my MOCs so the end result is almost always in favor of asthetic
accuracy.

Parenthetically, this is as good a place as any to announce that my MOC of
the famous Mil Mi-24E Hind has been cleared by the hardworking Brickshelf
moderators.  The 6 bladed rotor of my Hind versus the 5 bladed rotor of the
genuine article is a good example of such a compromise.  It can be seen at:

You beat me to it! ;-) Looks great Bryce! The JSF cockpit piece is perfectly suited to the Hind IMHO, I really like the front half of the model, although the tail seems too chunky to me, I like the missile tubes under the wings, very clever idea (...)
