Maybe the wheels have some sort of force field to hold them on the ice for traction, or they have microscopic spikes like Spider-man's fingers. This is science (...) (...) The obvious solution for me is a frame-by-frame construction, with each stud being rendered into a "frame." So I'll be building the flare out SNOTwise below deck level.
