Re: power steering for new supercar 8448

Wow--I just looked at the pictures you linked to here, and it's a much more elegant solution than mine--I could probably keep my bodywork too. Karen (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

Congradulations, Your solution to steering sounds much simpler and direct than my design. Hope you can take a picture so we can see it. Quite a challenge. right? Bob Fay Karen Gold <kjgpinelake@yahoo.com> wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: power steering for new supercar 8448--I did it

Thanks Matthew for suggesting that white slip gear! A while ago there was a lot of thunder and lightning and I unplugged the computer and worked on my 8448 car while waiting for the kids to clean up the kitchen so we could eat. I put a second (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 1999 Technic

(...) Yeah, I agree. So far, I've liked everything I've seen. Last year's sets were pretty weak, so it's nice to see things go against the general trend. (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: power steering for new supercar 8448

I have to reverse my comments regarding the micromotor for this car. This car is too heavy and the tires to wide for the power of the micromotor. I have just completed the steering using the type ll motor. You can take a look at (URL) would like to (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: power steering for new supercar 8448

(...) Agreed. I have motorized a number of technic sets per the instructions and always use a Micromotor for steering. Just the right speed (...) One big thing to watch out for is if you stall the micromotor, it sometimes gets stuck, even if you (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 1999 Technic

I am thinking about getting that Supercar, and I am not even a Technic "head". :) Based on the discussions regarding bulk orders and TLG's internal processes, getting different groups to talk to each other sounds almost impossible. Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

  1999 Technic

Has anyone else noticed that the 1999 Technic line is extrordinaraly good? Just about every set has a good design and lots of useful new pieces. Not since the space shuttle in 1996 has there been a technic set I actually wanted to own, now they're (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

  Steering the 8448

Here is my attempt to steer the 8448 Street Sensation. It seems to work quite well. The road clearance is reduced to one tile thickness. (URL) Fay rfay@we.mediaone.net The Shop (URL) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: power steering for new supercar 8448

Have you tried a micromotor? I have not tried to motorize my car yet, but that is what I will use for steering. The steering is stiff at the rack on this car and will need some loosening. The micromotor will stall if the load is too great preventing (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)

power steering for new supercar 8448

Has anyone used a motor to steer the new 8448? HOW?? I put the RCX in the trunk as everybody pointed out you could do. Then I tore off most of the body decorative pieces to make room to put in a motor to steer the car, so I can use sensors to keep (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.build)
