You are correct that the crank is for the elevator. One of those unseen but cool details. The "L" shape of the upper floors was a common practice in the early 20th century and I like the added realism it gives. Thanks for the comments! David Kohrman (...) (...) They are gone, unfortunatley. I was just about to order mine and it had disapeared from lego.com. I was able to get one, however, for my local FAO Schwartz. The mecha was small enough that a single ball joint was enough to hold the body up. but occasionly when the pose is extreme or too much off ballence weight is applied (...)
