Re: Set Review 6553 Crisis News Crew

(...) Well, IMHO, discussion of reviews relates directly to reviews -- more commentary basically expands upon the review. So it should probably stay in .reviews, unless the thread drifts too much. (26 years ago, 8-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

Re: Set Review 6553 Crisis News Crew

I wonder if reviews should have their follow-ups set to lugnet.build (or lugnet.robotics, as appropriate) Or if discussions about reviews should happen here? I have cc'd this post to lugnet.build, and set the follow-ups to go there. I got this set (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build, lugnet.reviews)

Got a letter from Susan Williams

I understand the weird catalog I received now. After I sent pictures of my Huge Gothic Cathedral to Lego, I received the "Lego, Like You've Never Seen It" catalog a couple of weeks later. A week after that I received a letter from Consumer Affairs' (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

  Re: removable rcx

(...) True, that is a limitation. And somehow I have the feeling that my plans will automatically grow to encompass whatever number of sensors and motors I own. (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Re: removable rcx

I have tried that plan but in order to get any strength built-in to my robot I have to get the motors and sensors embedded into the robot or everything just falls off at the first touch. If touch sensors were affordable enough to get some extra, (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Re: removable rcx

(...) Mmm, good idea... BTW, I wish the batteries were easier to replace...it's too bad they didn't learn that lesson from the 9V monorail boxes. Or maybe if the AC adaptor could recharge batteries inside the unit... --Todd ======== Posted via the (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  removable rcx

Not anything profound here, but just a musing: Next time I build a robot, I'm going to make it so the RCX and sensors are easily removed, so I can leave the basic design together and yet move the brain to another creation. (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Re: Mindstorms SnooperBot

Thanks for the info. I am here in Canada. I am somewhat ignorant of frequency limits by CRTC (Canadian equivalent of the FCC). The unit can be tuned to braodcast in short range to the lower FM frequencies near 80-90 Mhz. Tom McDonald wrote in (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Mindstorms SnooperBot

Be careful of the power output. Assuming you're here in the US, and depending upon the band, the FCC will only let you put out up to 100mW on domestic frequencies. Citizens' band is 4W. Just about everything else requires a license. I'm assuming (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

I remember a LEGO Parrot model from one of my sons' old Brick Kicks magazines, but now I cannot locate it. Alas my storage consists of a file folder. The kids closets have been given over to camping equipment for scouts, and Mom is forced to admit (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

  Mindstorms SnooperBot

I plan to build a bot that will be able to snoop around into a room (hopefully with people talking about secret things!!!! :-) ), and have it transmit the conversation via a micro FM transmitter. The one prolem is that the bot itself will be quite (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.build)

Re: How do you build an elevator?
