  Re: Builder's Gallery

(...) The upload.asp page came up this time with no complaints or detours, so it might work now, though I didn't upload any pictures to test it. -Tom McD. when replying feel free to not include the spamcake. (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Pnuematic missles or other sources of missle propulsion

Ben Fleskes (benfleskes@msn.com) asked for suggestions for missile launch mechanisms: My dad and I used to build some rubber band based missile/torpedo launchers. 1) Use a 2x8 plate (a) as base. aaaaaaaa aaaaaaaa 2) Add one 1x4 technic beam (b) and (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 8462 review ?

(...) No, there's no drive at all. What's more, the steering wheel in the cab does not turn when you turn the front wheels using the round black "space wheel" on top. The only action on the model is the crane and the lift. The lift is pretty well (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

REPRINTED FROM RTL: lego fan wrote: Like John said when you first started out building .... those were the best years .... which is why I think that the golden years were 1961-65, my early years. That was when the Town Plan (set 725) with 1150 (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: What's wrong with this model?

I think it's now a very cute little minibike (given the tire size). Great detailing given the resolution you're working with. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

he 6000 Idea Book I had did not have stickers. It had pictures you could cut out (GASP! :( ) I got mine in Germany in 1984, when my grandfather died and we went to the funeral. Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: What's wrong with this model?

Based on the comments, I tried to improve the model by making the tank and the seat more visible, and also make the engine a bit more realistic. What do you think about the model now? Does it look less odd? (URL) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 8462 review ?

(...) It's a very large, compact and heavy model. If you like cog gear action, it's not the thing to get. There are only very few gears in the sets, as the only things operated with gears are the steering and the rotation of the crane. When it comes (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Are there stickers in the scans of 6000? What page are the stickers on? (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Help me god (or anyone)...

There are scans on kl.net of 6000 and one other.. I think 250, if anyone can find out where to get clear sticker sheets, please let me know, I've wanted to print some of them out myself. LMK Tamy p.s. hope this helps you, Jonas (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Help me god (or anyone)...

Thanks for the help, Gary. Actually, I am looking for scans of the old idea book sticker sheets. There are many useful signs and things on them. If you know of any, let me know. (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

  Imperial Hover Tank

I tried a interpretation of the Imperial(*) Hover Tanks (from the second trailer) over the weekend using most of the current Star Wars parts and an RCK.   8462 review ?

I'm looking for reviews of the 8462 Tow Truck model. It looks neat in the catalog, but how is it really? How is it to build, to play with? Thanks for any insights you can share. (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: What's wrong with this model?

(...) Yes, I was thinking of the blue elements as a tank, but it seems to lack a bit of height. Putting a plate on the top may help to give the impression of a tank. But I'm worried that putting a plate on top of a half-pin will make the plate (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Missle launching ideas (was: Pnuematic missles or other sources of missle propulsion

(...) I can't wait to see it. :-) Building large, heavy models is a pain, eh? Been there, done that. But not as heavy as your minor monstrosity. Good luck. -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.build)
