New Mecha @ Moonbase Io (1/17/01)

After experimenting with the new ball joints found in the Technic C3-P0 and Stormtrooper sets, I've come up with a new mecha. I am proud to introduce the Samson Heavy Assult Mecha. See it inthe Martian Colonies section at Moonbase Io. LMKWYT, Todd (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

Cool! That's an impressive machine! I was actually thinking about using 2x2 8t gears, but I don't have the room in my model (And I've run out of racks too). Encouraging anyway, I'll do some testing this weekend (and probably post a picture of the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Re: Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

My model (link below) uses elevators with a double rack and double drive axles (four z8 pinions). I have tested it with a payload of 36lbs (more than enough for a complete scale-size Saturn V). By my calculations, thats 40N per elevator. The rubber (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

(...) I suppose the only real way would be to keep a logbook of actual time building and tinkering. As some have pointed out though, the time you spend thinking about the model is far harder to quantify. Saying that, keeping a log book in this (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build)

  Online Ideas Page...

I've updated my page, and will be updating it multiple times today, I've decided to stick with the JPEG's for now, the GIF's turned out to be larger & slower loading. If a model has more then 10 steps it will get more then one page, with 10 steps (...)   Re: Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

Duq, I once had a 8t gear in rack & pinion lifter break on me - it was only a single width rach, though. It was in a fair-ground ride I built (many years ago). The arm it was lifting was pretty heavy, but I didn't actually weigh / measure it. If (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Force, strenght, did anyone ever measure?

Hi all, I'm running into trouble with my mobile crane project. The boom is pretty heavy. I want to raise it with a rack/pinion, but I wonder how much force they can take? I reckon that for the first bit up the horizontal force will be around 50N. (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)
