  Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

I am happy to announce my latest moonbase. (URL) are appreciated. -Jason +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (URL) Page - (URL) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.space) !!

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) I think it could use some guard rails, at least on the walkways around the central column. That drop could give someone the heebie-jeebies. The slopes on the sides keep it from looking too boxy. Well done. ~GAMH (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Nifty. First thing I thought of was Gold Saucer from FFVII for some reason. I like the caution strips along the platforms, but I agree with Mark, guardrails are good. Don't want your minifigs wandering off the edge. :-) -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

Wow, that's a cool idea. You could land a pod on one of those nicely. Heck, you could land a couple of them on a pad (sorry, my thoughts are a bit pod-centric right now). The detail on the bottom floor is great. (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Nice, Jason, but I just have one question: Once I've landed, how do I get inside? Regards ROSCO (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

this is a great addition to the moonbase mods... I love how its tall. I think that because of the height of the portal connections that were established, we have all had the tendency to hug the surface as much as possible. I'm bummed that you (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

Very cool stuff Jason. The thing is huge!!! I especially like the slopes that come out of the central column. Serves to break up the shape of the tower. -Stefan- (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Coolness factor aside, I have some serious concerns about this landing tower. Where the heck is the Air Traffic Control tower??? I mean, how're all these ships suppose to land and take off without crashing into each other?? This isn't (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

I quite like the idea of building vertically in a module and this one is done very well indeed. Very cool Jason - it would look great joined in a group of other modules fer shure. Cheers, -G (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Indeed. Someone at the Michlug meeting mentioned that as well. I didn't want the guard rail making it more difficult to land, but I'll have to see if I can come up with something that looks good and doesn't get in the way. (...) Thanks. (...) (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Thanks. As I said to Mark, I'll take another look at some guard rails. -Jason +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (URL) Page - (URL) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) I haven't gotten around to building a pod yet. But, yes, you are right, those would be a great size to land a pod or two. Thanks. (...) I am very pleased with the way it came out. I really wanted that whole bottom hallway to feel cramped. (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Right here: (URL) black areas, are supposed to represent doors for an elevator. (Which would double as an air lock on the floors necessary.) (...) -J +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (URL) Page - (URL) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Thanks. I too like the way it towers over my other two modules. I was thinking that in a moonbase where all the modules are only 20 bricks high or so, it might be hard to find a landing pad. Well not with this guy, it will stand out. (...) (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Heh, thanks. Actually it is taller than any of the buildings I brought to the last GATS. I didn't really intend for it to be super tall, but I wanted there to be plenty of room between the platforms. (...) Indeed, I was quite happy with the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Well, perhaps it's a moon of Tatooine? Actually I figured it would function more like a parking garage, sorta park yourself, and watch out for the jerk next to you. You're not the first to mention that(1), so I guess I should add something. (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

(...) Thanks! (...) I was pretty keen on the way it looked last weekend at the September Michlug meeting. Hopefully the next meeting will have even more modules. (...) -Jason +---...---+ Jason Spears MichLUG - (URL) Page - (URL) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

That's one great module. It should work great in lunar gravity! I love the idea behind it and can see many speeders, pods and hoverthings in my mind's eye zipping around it. Keep building and sharing! Alexander (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase - Landing Platform Tower

Jason, sorry I did not get back to you in regards to your latest moonbase modules. As for your landing platform tower: It %#$%#& rocks! The same goes for Peter's Classic Space Police Train Station module. I wanna see more modules from ya, man! Oh, (...) (22 years ago, 14-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)
