  Parable of the Harsh Master

The Brick Testament has been updated today with one new illustrated story from the Gospels, the Parable of the Harsh Master: (URL) is the first of a few of Jesus's parables and other bits I plan on adding to the New Testament side of The Brick (...)   Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

Great job as usual Brendan, even if it was lacking some of the violence and sexual content that I demand as a viewer. The walls in LK 9:13 and many other scenes were brilliant, as were the inverted basketball nets, and the bandana/epaulette headgear (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

Hey Brendan, Great work as always. I especially like the wall behind the throne and the way you used stickshift bases on the throne. The way you are doing kneeling now is a lot better than the previous way of turning legs backwards, too. What in the (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) Yeah, it's kind of a tease that the king calls for people to be executed right in front of him, and then the story just ends abrubtly. (...) Ah, the clarity of parables. (...) I've seen people use that defense in court before. It usually (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) That's a Biker Scout stormtrooper helmet turned backward. It was interesting to illustrate -- this guy was being made a king, so presumably the person making him a king had to have some even greater position. But I was using the crown to (...)   Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) I'd say rather that the king-maker would probably be a priest or other religious figure. For instance there is the example of Samuel the prophet being led by God to annoint David as the king. The hat would work great in either case anyway. (...) (20 years ago, 7-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

This is actually one of the most famous stories of the new testament, I have read it in a number of translations, each seems to emphasize a different part of this story just like it was done here, as always with the bible there are a number of ways (...)   Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

As usual, really sweet work! I like the riding legs, and the walls covered in 1x1 white plates. The throne is really genius as well. Are those coins silver or is it a lighting effect? That hat on the guy crowning the king, how did you do that? Hey (...) (20 years ago, 11-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) Thanks, Jon. (...) Heh, yeah, the bow-legs are a little goofy, but I like them too, better than my previous way of having minifigs ride camels. It's pretty funny to see one of the camel riders retain that pose when he's off the camel. It's (...) (20 years ago, 12-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) I can't believe that you remembered Outlaw, that game was awesome! Well it was fun, I don't know about it's quality! (...) I think you've struck a pretty good balance in using Lego whenever possible, I was really hoping there were silver coins (...) (20 years ago, 12-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) (snip) Hey Brendan, Excellent job, as always! This, and the Tortured Debtor... My question, which I haven't seen answered here...on either side of the throne, there is a basketball hoop turned upside down, with a purple object resting on it, (...)   Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) Thanks, Doug. (...) It's a LEGO pen bead: (URL) picked them up in a few colors -- yellow, red, trans-dark pink, and a couple of purple ones, at the bulk shop in LEGOland CA. -Brendan (20 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)
