This is actually one of the most famous stories of the new testament, I have
read it in a number of translations, each seems to emphasize a different part of
this story just like it was done here, as always with the bible there are a
number of ways that this story can be interpreted. The most common one that I
have heard in Sunday school is that God gives us all the same amount of talents
and depending on how we use these talents that is how we will be rewarded in
haven, i.e. god favors people who strive to maximize their potential and
punishes the slackers.
