  Moses is Dead

The Brick Testament brings the illustrated saga of the Israelites' journey through the Wilderness to a close today with four new stories: (URL) Rev. Brendan Powell Smith (22 years ago, 23-May-03, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.ancient) !!

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) I took some time to get past the first photo in this new series, I had to calm down from the hysteric laughter :) It will be interesting to see the rections on this one! :) Peronally I think it's just fine but I know others will diagree. Over (...) (22 years ago, 23-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

Hey Brendan, Great as always. I do think you're overemphasizing the brutal aspects, and it's getting harsher, but that's a religious debate I don't want to get into here. I'll focus on the building: God kills 24000: That idol is great. Very good use (...) (22 years ago, 23-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) Brendan, as always I love your Bible stories. Hilarious and dramatic at the same time, if such a thing is possible Keep it up! About the Midianites: it looks like those countless cheap Luke Skywalker's found a use after all! :) (22 years ago, 24-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) Although some of the images in The Brick Testament can be quite bold, I think I will probably refrain from depicting any minifigs with 'rections. @;^) (...) That's really good to hear. I do hope I'm improving with time. (...) If you have time (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) Hi, Bruce. (...) Thank you, sir. (...) Not really wanting to start a religious debate either, but out of curiosity, do you feel that I am overemphasizing the brutal aspects of these particular stories? Or is it my choice of which stories from (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) Thanks, Stéphane. If such a thing is possible, I will keep it up. @8^) (...) I think all those black robes I have are actually Darth Maul outfits I got when the Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul set was marked down to $1.99. I still haven't found a good (...)   Re: Moses is Dead

(...) I guess it's more in the selection of the stories. You seem to have chosen each of these stories and left out others, which is, of course, your option. I just don't think it's been completely unbiased. Also, the story title "Instructions for (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) In general, with The Brick Testament, I readily admit to a bias in choosing which stories to illustrate. I think any Bible illustrator is going to bring a bias to their story-selection. But I would say that for the section of the Bible I am (...) (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: Moses is Dead

(...) I agree that bias is inevitable. If I were to take on a similar project I'm sure others would say it was overly reverent, or Jewish readers might object to my Christological interpretation of certain texts in the Old Testament (of course, my (...)   Re: Moses is Dead

(...) By the way, I love your dewbacks in the Tatooine scene. Nice landscaping as well. It's only a mild and occasional frustration that all the LEGO building I do these days goes toward The Brick Testament. I haven't really tired of building in the (...)   Re: Moses is Dead

(...) Not in my dyslectic way I hope :) (21 years ago, 13-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.ancient)
