I agree that bias is inevitable. If I were to take on a similar project I’m sure others would say it was overly reverent, or Jewish readers might object to my Christological interpretation of certain texts in the Old Testament (of course, my calling it the OT belies my religious bias). Anyway, I’ll leave this line of discussion be. I’ve certainly logged a lot of hours in on-line debate-oriented newsgroups and found it to be less than fruitful. My on-line discussion has been much happier in the last couple of years since it has focused on the brick.

I should add that I do think this is a point that needs to be discussed. It’s just that when it is being emphasized by someone who does not ascribe to the religion it feels like an attack.

You know, these days I think maybe I do believe in God, it’s just that he’s an awful, arbitrary, and very powerful being. If I were a believer, would that change how you perceived my emphasis?

That is interesting and it might, if I felt these aspects were being raised for the sake of starting a discussion. Again, I’ll leave that actual discussion to wiser posters than myself.

Thanks. My temptation to illustrate The Law at this point is mostly because this is where it would fit in chronologically. Anyhow, I’ll decide soon. Right now I’m going back and cleaning up some of the photos from the Genesis stories. I’m not replacing photos, but I’ve learned a lot how to take a bad photo and make it look good since then. Anyhow, that should be done within a week, and then I’ll tackle the issue of where to go next.

Hey Brendan, I’ve been meaning to ask you this. How often do you feel compelled to stop Bible-MOCing and build a spaceship or something? I have certainly had much less focus in my Tolkien project than you’ve had with your site, and part of that is that I’m constantly going off on tangents, like right now I’ve got a little Return of the Jedi Endor scene sitting in my apartment waiting to photograph, and I’ve got some Sea Monkeys sitting there waiting for me to build something for them.

(...) By the way, I love your dewbacks in the Tatooine scene. Nice landscaping as well. It's only a mild and occasional frustration that all the LEGO building I do these days goes toward The Brick Testament. I haven't really tired of building in the (...) (...) In general, with The Brick Testament, I readily admit to a bias in choosing which stories to illustrate. I think any Bible illustrator is going to bring a bias to their story-selection. But I would say that for the section of the Bible I am (...) (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)
