LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

Wee-hoo! This one's a biggie! :) The 2004-02 parts update has been unleashed. It includes 408 files, with 122 new part files. A special treat are the two largest parts we've ever had the privilege of including in the LDraw.org parts library. The (...) (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad) !!

(...) Woohoo!! (...) Wow! That IS big!!! (...) Hmmmm, the preview page seems to have 2 copies of everything. Scroll down halfway, you'll see it starts again from the top. (...) Cool! Script may need some adjustment though ;) ROSCO (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) It also didn't get all the parts. I noticed 105.dat missing from the preview page, and since I just saw it get certified the other day, I checked and saw that it was in the update. --Travis Cobbs (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) The duplication has been removed. The preview page only includes "new" parts - 105.dat was a fix/improvement to a version already in the official library, so it is not included on the preview page. The entry at (URL) exists now too. Chris (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) :) I once made an altered version of the file, it cuts down the file size to 642Kb (a savings of 37%). But it also used 22 subfiles (ouch!). Steve. (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Thanks! I'm the person (URL) requested the 50 x 50 baseplate>, and it's great to see it official. It's quite an old "part" (it's so big it's hard to call it a "piece"). It probably is LEGO's biggest part ever. Thanks again, Chris Dee, for (...) (20 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Let's see, I think 'Yippee!!' is still available. :) This looks alike a great update. Lots of good stuff. A couple of problems though...my system doesn't seem to like some stuff. When I open MLCAD, the first thing I get is an error stating (...) (20 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) my two helmets where part of update 2004-01, but it came with no "~movedto" reference in the outdated 193.dat. this ref was included in 2004-02. my guess is that you are missing update 2004-01 or that something went wrong with the 2004-02 (...) (20 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Sure, I'll send it your way. I don't have it right handy; give me a day or two to dig it up. Although I'll warn you - some of the space savings was because I dropped a couple of decimals of precision. I figured measuring the surface to the (...) (20 years ago, 27-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Don't we have to re-run mklist.exe or something when we install updates? Paul Sinasohn (20 years ago, 25-May-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-02 Parts Update Now Available

(...) It depends on which software you use. If you run MLCAD, you'll need to do File | Scan Parts to update the compiled list of parts. Otherwise, you should run mklist.exe. Some other programs have their own requirements for post-update processing. (...) (20 years ago, 25-May-04, to lugnet.cad)

  LDRAW Updates: Documentation Plan

(...) Thanks, Steve. I use MLCAD, so I'll run that routine. If folks who know of post-update processing requirements acn send them to me, I'll create and contribute a generic instruction document. Paul Sinasohn LUGNET #115 BAYLUG/BAYLTC (20 years ago, 28-May-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDRAW Updates: Documentation Plan

(...) Cool. Paul, I did get your mail with a suggestion, did you receive my reply? I'd like to talk to you about what areas you see lacking in documentation. One of the things I'd like to do is get back to the get started docs and revise them and (...) (20 years ago, 28-May-04, to lugnet.cad)
