New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
Hi all, My newest craft is the Osprey Podfighter: (URL) (once moderated) Til then: (URL) 01-13 In a departure from conventional pods, I decided to fully extend a major part of the ship outside the radar dishes. I also wanted to maintain a poddish (...) (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.space) !

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Erik Olson
This could start a whole new theme where the pods match the pilot's T-shirt! (22 years ago, 9-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Mark Sandlin
(...) Ooh! My pod matches my pilot's outfit too! (URL) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Matt Sekerak
(...) Ooooooh! I like it already! Great departure from the purely round shape...I really like the idea. Looking forward to the folder. -Matt . (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Matt. I wanted to do something a little different this time around. The wings were a challenge to get just the way I liked... -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Koziatek
Pretty cool, as others have said, its a departure from the typical pod shape. They wings that start high bud kind of curl over are wicked. I can see it as a police/customs patrol craft, you know? and I like the color scheme. Well done! Christian (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Christian. The wings were something I really focused on - giving them the right pitch to be "mean". I'd love to see something like this redone in white and black - with some nifty red and blue lights. -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Jeffrey M. Szklennik
     (...) snip (...) Hey, COOL! It looks like a super-deformed Klingon Bird-of-prey! Jeff (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Hey, never thought about that...cool. Glad you liked it. -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Travis Kunce
hey, nice pod, the colors are great. I don't want to start a controversy, but Let me be the first to say that I don't think Pods should have wings like we know them on aircraft. Its not that I'm against creative license. But I think of Pods as sort (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Mark Jordan
(...) If TLC is to adopt Pods as a Space theme (surely that's not too much to hope!), then a range of different sizes at different price points would be necessary. And wings, even if they smell a little too aerodynamic for your pod sensibility, sure (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Travis. (...) Good point. Right now I've done 4 pods, and only 1 has wings, so that's just 25%. This reminds me of something...spaceships and wings....hmmm... -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Joe Meno
(...) What coolness! There's a lot of neat little details that I like here, like the pod being an escape pod for the fighter. That opens up some interesting possibilities...like having strap on mission packages, like sensor packs and stuff. Nice (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Joe. I gave the mission-specific addons some thought, but abandoned the idea. It'd be really interesting to see someone do something like this. -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Gil Shaw
Another winner Chris...look great so far. It looks like an updated variation on the BT2 Allied Avenger - except way cooler of course :> More when the folder is moderated... Cheers, -G (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Gil Shaw
Okay...moderated. Wow Chris...wow. I would have to say that this is my favorite pod of yours so far. Although the 2 modules are seemingly incongruous, when brought together they make an amazing package. It just looks plain ol' mean. Diggin' it (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) I always love to hear what you got to say, being the podmaster and all. :-) The escape pod was an idea that happened to pan out. And mean was what I was going for. -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Alexander Zwagerman
The podfrenzy continues and this fighter will probably inspire builders to keep the frenzy going! Love the way you managed to make a pod look truly tough. Alexander (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Alexander. I don't want to pod to be a passing fad - it has just as much sticking potential as the Spiffcraft. If I can inspire another, then great! -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Jamie Neufeld
Now that is one cool pod! The 4 stud wide pods are ok but my favorites are the 2 stud wide pods. They just have a sleekness to them. I like the escape pod from the wings idea. Very cool. Now I'm going to have to start building a few more just so you (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Jamie. I agree with your 4 vs. 2 stud thing. Sleek is cool, but wide allows more interior room. Build away! -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Andrew Martin
Very cool. I like the overall look of the craft, but making the pod detachable was a good idea. The colors are nice. I like the three slope brick spikes on the top of the back of the pod. (...) (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Andrew. The detachable pod hadn't been done before, so I figured I'd give it a go. The slopes on the back - I just thought they looked cool. :-) -Chris (22 years ago, 10-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Jonathan Mizner
Ooooh....that's quite possibly my favorite pod built to date. It seems a bit large, though... *runs off to build winged pod* (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
Thanks Jonathan; glad you liked it. It's supposed to be big! :-) -Chris (...) (22 years ago, 12-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —John Henry Kruer
Wow- a great novel idea. I really looks great- like it'll 'swoop' down on something. I don't really care if it's a true pod or not... it's cool and I like it. You are a master of tiny ships, Chris! -JHK (...) (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks John. I wanted to do something a bit different with this'n. (...) Well, I wouldn't go that far...I'm just a newbie compared to some of the master ship builders here. -Chris (22 years ago, 11-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Osprey Podfighter —Paul Hartzog
hey i just found this (i wasn't on much in sept...) and i'd like to say Chris that this is a very very slick pod variant i like the enhancements (wings) but you paid respect to the fact that it must also function as a Pod. and it does. very cool (...)
