Hey film fans,

I'm back in the US, so if any of you have been looking for updates to
Brickfilms, head on over and check out the new update.

There are more movies listed (I believe there are 29 films listed right
now).  All LEGO, all the time.

But the big news is the contest!  I have taken the liberty to paste the
announcement here:
-----------------------------
I'm pleased to announce Brickfilms' first film contest:  "Based On A True Story"

To promote the art of LEGO stop motion animation and give directors out
there some inspiration and creative competition, I'd like to hold a contest
of short films.  Here is a short list of rules regarding this contest:

Subject matter:  Films can be any work or story of historical fiction.  This
means your film must be based on something that actually happened.  This
does not mean it has to be an accurate representation of events.  Examples
would be Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo,  the story of Helen Keller, or man's
first walk on the moon.  They can be comedic or serious, a spoof or an
accurate look at an event.

Length: Films should be from 3 to 5 minutes in length.

Copyright: The work does not have to be original (that is, made specifically
for this contest), but it must be your own, or credited to the right people
and submitted with their permission.

Submission: Entries should be submitted to the webmaster as a url link.
Brickfilms does not currently have space to host films.  If you need space
for your films, please contact me and I will see what I can do.

Deadline: Entries will be accepted from now until April 30th, 2001.  That
gives you around two months.

Judging:  Entries will be judged according to creativity, cinematography,
and presentation of the story.

Prizes:  Yes, there will be prizes!  They will vary a bit according to the
number of entries received, but there will for sure be a Grand Prize, which
will be a large LEGO set.   If there are enough entries there will also be
smaller prizes for honorable mentions.  The winner will also have his or her
film promoted and featured on Brickfilms and probably a few other sites.
Right now I'm going to shell out for the prizes myself, but maybe we can get
some sponsorship to promote the contest and get some great prizes.

Well, that's it for the contest.  Remember, we are all amateurs here.  This
would be a great opportunity for those who have not submitted a film or who
are thinking about a larger project to get moving and have fun with a goal
in mind.  If you know you would like to enter, please send me an email so I
can gauge how many entries there will be.  As always,  Happy Filming!
---------------

So, if anyone is interested, head on over and check out the new LEGO films,
and look at the contest.  :)

Take care,

Jason

P.S. More set shots soon from my little film, if I can get around to taking
them.

(...) Jason - I was wondering what ever happened with this contest. Were there any entries to it? I actually had an idea for a submission but never had time to bring it to life. It took me longer than planned to finish my "set," which was my model (...) (23 years ago, 22-May-01, to lugnet.animation)
