In the May issue of the Adventures! magazine
there is an article how the Arctic subtheme was created. The design started
in 1987. That is thirteen years!

I think you probably read about the Technic line introduced in the mid/late
80s called "Arctic Action." Check the set database..

No. The Article is about the Arctic subtheme. Here are parts of the
article translated from Danish:

"Behind the scenes

Have you ever wondered how Lego design the new subthemes?
In this issue you get the unique opportunity to read about
the development of the fantastic new subtheme Arctic Explorers!

The work on Arctic Explorers started in 1987. At first it was
called Polar, and here you can see the first models that were
made. The subtheme was about expeditions and rescue.

The Polar subtheme was developed further in 1996 where more red
(bricks) was added. Orange bricks was only added in the very end
of the development.

The final version of Arctic Explorers is the search for and use
of meteors and the strange creatures inside.

The idea for aliens inside the meteors comes from the 1950 science
fiction movie 'The cruel from outside'."

Please note that the title of the movie probably has been translated
from English to Danish and back. And movie titles doesn't usually
translate well. Maybe anyone knows what it was originally called?

Christian
