I think the way Yahoo Groups polling works is the way to go here...
it's a poll creator option whether you can or can't change your mind. It's a
poll creator option whether your ID is associated with the vote or is
anonymous or visible only to the creator. It's a poll creator option whether
the poll ends at a fixed date, or at whim (or if you never end it, never).
Finally it's a poll creator option whether the poll results are mailed to no
one, the entire group or just the creator when the poll ends.
Lots of flexibility.
I would trade the risk of someone knowing how I vote on poll items away for
the ability to change my vote, without a second thought.

The reason that the choices aren't recorded currently is for privacy reasons. In order to let you change your mind, it has to (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
