I think some sort of time frame on the polls is an excellent idea. Almost
like the duration for which an eBay auction runs. If there was no time
limit, fewer people would feel the need to vote. Placing some sort of limit
on the polls might get more people interested.
I had some similar thoughts about being able to edit the poll itself. I
posted them to the thread announcing the mechanism itself, but here's the link:

The reason that the choices aren't recorded currently is for privacy reasons. In order to let you change your mind, it has to (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
