It's an interesting thing, but very tricky do to without breaking news
clients. The IBM internal discussion groups did have such a mechanism
(they used custom software not NNTP), and even there, with a well
controlled client, there were still some problems with moving threads.
One problem is that not only do you have to get the permission of the
original poster, but all subsequent posts (the IBM internal discussions
didn't need such permissions because the TOS gave the administrators the
right to move posts and threads [and cancel them also - one cancellation
which was an interesting one was when someone's post quoting and IBM
exec got canceled because of the language the exec used <which
highlights a problem with "censoring" language in this way>]).

| (...) ... (...) Since the LUGNET Admin can currently cancel posts without the posters' permission, I don't see why this would be the case. I assume that my suggestion could be implemented with a script executed with administrator privileges. Getting (...) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-02, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
