according to RFC 977:
The IHAVE command informs the server that the client has an article
whose id is <messageid>. If the server desires a copy of that
article, it will return a response instructing the client to send the
entire article. If the server does not want the article (if, for
example, the server already has a copy of it), a response indicating
that the article is not wanted will be returned.
doesn't that mean you're trying to act as another news server to lugnet? getting a copy of all the articles, and sending updates? afaik, lugnet doesn't talk to other servers - it'll allow them to read, like any client, but doesn't allow them to sync articles... to post, you have to actually post an article directly to the lugent news server, and not to your local inn.
does that make sense?

| (...) Yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. You see, I pay for phone calls, so I don't want to be dialled-up to the internet the whole time I'm meandering around lugnet reading messages. My machine runs a server, so it connects to the internet, (...) (23 years ago, 29-Sep-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)
