  Re: A Change

(...) My slight problem with the web interface is that I cannot use any of my signature/taglines without copy and pasting from an external source. I poat a suggestion to this fact about a week ago but have been ignored. I think this would be a good (...)   Re: A Change

Time for me to play devil's advocate... (...) At the risk of sounding elitist, I point out that the "citizens" of Lugnet are arguably the paying members. As a member who posts exclusively via the web interface, I have no knowledge of the difficult (...)   Re: A Change

(...) I don't think this is the way... I'd much prefer seeing something such as authenticated NNTP, although I'm not sure if/how to set something like that up. (21 years ago, 8-May-03, to lugnet.admin.suggestions, lugnet.admin.nntp)

  A Change

.A Change ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ (Not so much a` BIG change, but a `SMALL improvement!) !An open letter to the Lugnet community and it’s creators: I'm proposing that a change take place in our lovely Lugnet community. Not a radical revolution, but simply just a (...)   Re: Renaming Gaming group

(...) Hmm, the auto-forward didn't work quite as I expected. I followed an old link from my web page, and it indeed shows the lugnet.gaming article, but the URL is still the /fun/gaming URL. I suppose at some point I should edit my web page to use (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Animation & Sports group rename

(...) Hey Todd, These are great changes. Especially with Lego expanding from soccer to basketball to hockey (even though I'm not thrilled with the execution of this last), having a "sports" section will be cool. One other section I would suggest (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Renaming Gaming group

OK, whew, it's completed. The lugnet.fun.gaming group has been renamed to lugnet.gaming, and subgroups for BrikWars (URL) and Starship (URL) have now finally been created. If you run or participate in an RPG and would like a focused discussion (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.gaming, lugnet.announce)

  Renaming Gaming group

Earlier today, the groups lugnet.football and lugnet.publish.cinema were renamed to lugnet.sports and lugnet.animation, respectively. Assuming no further problems arising between now and a few hours from now[1], I'm going to also tackle renaming (...) (21 years ago, 4-May-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.gaming)

OOPS, sorry for the trip down memory lane!

If you're subscribed to lugnet.announce, I apologize for the flood of reposts of old messages from lugnet.publish.cinema (now lugnet.animation) and/or lugnet.football (now lugnet.sports). I forgot to tweak a data file which contains message counts (...) (21 years ago, 4-May-03, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Animation & Sports group rename

Today I'm going to tackle the renaming of lugnet.publish.cinema to lugnet.animation and lugnet.football to lugnet.sports. This transformation will basically go in 4 steps: 1. First the old groups will be disabled, so that no new posts can be made. (...) (21 years ago, 4-May-03, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.sports, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Request for New Animation Newsgroup

(...) Of course it will break peoples .newsrc files though... But if you do it right, we should just be able to edit .newsrc and change the name of the group right? Frank (21 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Request for New Animation Newsgroup

(...) Hi Greg, This is on my to-do list for when I get back to Boston. (I'm in San Francisco this week.) We're also thinking of moving .fun.gaming up a notch to .gaming to make it easier for things like Starship, BrikWars, etc. It's no trivial task (...) (21 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Request for New Animation Newsgroup

(...) I just wanted to echo and support Stefan's question and request. I've also wondered in recent months what became of the idea of promoting Lego Animation to its own top level newsgroup. I would also still like to see this and believe that (...) (21 years ago, 25-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  NNTP problem?

Hi. Is it me, or is there a problem with the NNTP server? It's taking a *very* long time to respond and often times out. It was working fine until yesterday. Any ideas? Thanks, Eric (21 years ago, 22-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Request for New Animation Newsgroup

(...) So... what happened to this suggestion? I still would like to see it, and after BricksWest I'm sure you must be convinced that animation is something that many Lego enthusiasts take an interest in! Yours, Stefan. (22 years ago, 14-Mar-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Cannot use NNTP all of a sudden

However, there is still an issue with xinetd acting flaky...there have been three or four times today when the nntpd daemon (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Cannot use NNTP all of a sudden

Todd, I was looking up Telnet in Windows XP (haven't used it before) and I decided to try NNTP again - it worked. I don't know what was going on earlier, but I guess as long as it continues to work I'll just keep using it. Thanks for the quick (...) (22 years ago, 11-Mar-03, to lugnet.admin.nntp)
