I swear I knew my password was but it doesn't work. Who do I talk to to get it? (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Looks like that "good taste" module in the email gateway is working great guys! Sorta like those logon screens that get slower & slower the more times you get the password wrong....8?) ROSCO (23 years ago, 28-Nov-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

I received this in my membership activation email back in July: Your LUGNET Member Packet is queued up for printing and postage and should arrive to you within a few weeks.   Signing in/ Membership packet

Hello, all, I seem to have a fuzzy memory of a membership package coming with the membership?... Has there been a change on this, or are things like somebody's real life getting in the way? ;) Also, on the homepage, there's a place to sign in, but I (...)   Re: posting varification, ug!

(...) I'm willing to bet that the distribution of posting has shifted toward the Web interface since the authentication has gone into effect. At least among LUGNET *members*. (...) If members are spoofing posts, there's a real problem. I'd think (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Hello, I hope this is the right place for this... Do I read correctly somewhere that if you login to Lugnet, your posts appear automatically again? i.e. You don't need to confirm them. If so, I would love to take advantage of this! Which leads to my (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jul-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Todd, can I have my password.

(...) Like Shiri said, it was in your membership packet (which many of us have never received). Also, it would have been in the email you received after your payment was received. The email I received had the subject 'Membership Activation'. (23 years ago, 21-Jun-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

Uh....me four (or five or six) on needing my password Todd (member 912). I'd like to now try out the web interface to see if it is easier than the email authentification stuff (not that I mind that either), but seeing as I haven't used my pw since (...) (...) good point - guess web posting is easy to put a password on... nntp should be doable, though I've never played with it... as for email, guess the authorization email back to the sender method would work... Dan (23 years ago, 30-May-01, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Gnus handles NNTP servers that need password authentication just fine. At least for fairly new versions of Gnus. If you have GNU Emacs 20.x, you should be fine. A point to note (to any reading, not just the thread participants), it used to be that in order to get your sign in password, you had to wait for the mail to arrive, as it was printed there, and Todd wasn't keen on sending it out by email.
