Folks... You might post to off-topic.test or some such... that will • reduce

Hmm, I just came up with a few ideas since we regularly see these types
of things.

The first would be lugnet.people.contact-me where people can post "hey,
where is Fred, we were in the middle of a deal and I haven't got an
e-mail in over a week" or "I'm having problems with my e-mail, please
contact me here". Of course some of this activity is probably acceptable
for lugnet.people.

It probably is OK for lugnet.people -- that's prolly the safest spot, • unless
it happens a lot.  I like the idea of a special "contact me" forum, but • then
again maybe it has more pros than cons -- it would be one step more • hidden,
and it's hard to find people who don't know they're being looked for...and
I'd hate to see any kind of flames or derision from regulars if a newbie
didn't post in such a specialized group.

One big problem I figure will occur with this proposed newsgroup idea is
that anyone who just browses while not logged in or who reguarly reads
lugnet through the news server, and doesn't go to the main page unless they
need to find something, may not get any idea at all that they even *have* a
notification awaiting them.  And it's highly unlikely that there is either
(a) any method of forcing someone to subscribe to a newsgroup and (b) not
very likely that Todd would be forcing someone to subscribe to such a
newsgroup, if it could be enabled for news browsers.  There's also (c) some
news browsers might not support such an option anyway.

That having been said, is there anything that can be used to tell someone
that there's an important message awaiting collection?
