We are pleased to announce a new LUGNET homepage:

  http://www.lugnet.com/

We hope that you find it refreshing and that new visitors will find it
friendly and inviting.

If you miss the old homepage, simply look for it at its new location:

  http://news.lugnet.com/

Special thanks to everyone who gave feedback on earlier prototypes -- your
input was extremely helpful!

Rather than having 2 homepages, is there no easy way to have a cookie or some
such thing, allow users to choose/design their own homepage?

I like the news view so I overrode my bookmark that used to point to www... to
now point to news...

Isn't that easier than using a cookie?

Sure, I have done the same. Whether it is better or not is another issue. I'm
not bothered either way though to be honest - I'll be sticking with news. for
the time being.

My take on the new page is that it is more for new users than existing ones
like you and I.

At least for now. Certainly if we get
to where non members can customize, maybe cookies are the way to go. But I
would say that for NOW, if you want to customise a "personal entry page" for
yourself, and you're a member... just code one for yourself in FTX, (hung in
the proper place) then set your bookmark to point to it.

At least I think that's one of the (many) uses for FTX, coding yourself up
something special.

If I could remember at least one of my passwords (I have 3 now and didn't
bring any of them with me to the UK...) , I'd sign in and demonstrate one for
you.

(...) That's a very large part of it, ya. It also more closely represents what LUGNET is. The news homepage only represents what LUGNET is from a news point of view. --Todd (24 years ago, 16-Aug-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
