which I completely agree with. It *is* a problem, as soon as you're not
subscribing to all groups, that threads get lost somewhere else.
Being connected to the 'net by modem, paying connection time by the minute, I
want/need to keep the connection time down. This means I subscribe only to a
couple (well, almost 20) of groups, connect, download, disconnect, and read
off-line. No possibility to flip to the web interface to follow a straying
thread. And it's much too much work to subscribe to a new group just to find
the thread again.
I don't see any obvious solution to this problem (other than a free 24-7 fast
connection, which is not yet available here where I live).
I'm not saying that anything *must* be done, I'm only saying that yes, the
follow-up-to craze removes value from Lugnet for me.
Happy building,

| (...) I'd think you'd _prefer_ this -- if the thread has moved away from something you're interested in, why would you want to read it anymore? Or, if it is something you want to follow, why not follow that group? (25 years ago, 23-May-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

| Hi all, I have a problem. It's not an earth-shattering problem, but it's a niggling problem that has gotten worse in the last couple of months, and it's to do with LUGNET, which is of course why I'm starting this thread here. This problem mostly (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
