Todd, I hope you don't mind, I tried to telnet into the news port to attempt to post a valid message, but I couldn't seem to get the right message stuff pasted in, so if you look at the logs, you'll notice several bunged attempts to post. (...) Sorry about that, Frank -- it's a bug in the newsserver having to do with line wrapping in the 'References:' header. (...) Actually, that's not the problem. The problem is that References: is exactly 511 characters (and yes, I counted.), no more and no less, long. It's a documented problem by now, see previous thread here. Cnews does Bad Things to headers 512+ (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
