Does Nunavut have an official mailcode?  (AB=Alberta, SK=Saskatchewan,
etc.)

As mention on Canada Post web site(www.canadapost.ca),it will stay NT for a
while, they don't want to create more trouble with years 2000 approching.

Cool, thanks for the link.  The Nunavut question is #1(!) in their FAQ:

  http://www.canadapost.ca/CPC2/common/pages/questions.html

But darn it, even though it's not changing anytime soon, they don't say what
it will be later when it does change.  Oh well.

For
the news groups, could leave it with NT (population is not very high),
unless someone over there ask for a separate one, I can't speek for them.

I suppose at least the description should change, though? -- so that it says
Northwest Territories and Nunavut?

Probably the best thing to do. Will probably take a lot of new moon before it
get crowded.

p.s.  It's an interesting coincidence that Nunavut starts with N and ends
with T.  I suppose if it ever does get its own postal code, they'll choose
something like NV...

didn't realize the NT sheme. BTW Nunavut is a inuit word that means "our land"

(...) One last question (hope you don't mind) -- is Yellowknife still classified under the Northwest Territories or would that be listed as part of Nunavut now? (...) Cool! --Todd (25 years ago, 17-Apr-99, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.loc.ca)
