Okay, I can understand that, but at least couldnt the colors match up

Well, theres a little more to it, actually. Basically, you need the code to
figure out whats what. Since LUGNET was designed to work with SMTP and NNTP,
the exact string In lugnet.xxx.yyy, ZZZ wrote: wont be consistant. Right
now, the only way it knows who said what is based on how many greater-than signs
preceed the line.
For example, you could have *instead*:

Yes, but 6-wide is Legos standard!

6-wide sucks!

Now, the FTX engine would have to know that On MMM DD, YYYY HH:MM:SS, xxx

other combination possible (which isnt possible to enumerate since people can
define their own in their respective email/nntp applications, AND they can edit
the post when theyre writing it!)
Or, you can omit the messages all together (as many people do):

And now the FTX engine doesnt know how to make heads or tails out of it, except
by looking at the number of greater-thans preceeding each line.
So, essentially, it cant really do it, unless we somehow forced the standard
onto everyone (retroactively too!). Unfortunately computers are just too darn
literal to make it feasible at the moment without being confusing for end users.
