You make a good point, Alfred. Personally, I think Randall's original message
to lugnet.general was misplaced -- although I believe he was probably trying
to reach people in lugnet.general specifically since that's where so much
vitriol had occurred in the past. Since he didn't set the 'Followup-To' header
to lugnet.color, it's no surprise that the mess unfolded in largely in
lugnet.general (hence it doubly being the wrong group).
Nevertheless, I don't know if there's a single "wrong group" to blame here.
In my opinion, at this point in the year, so many months after the original
fiasco, anyone who's stirring up ruckus on either side of the argument is in
the wrong.
I'll take the full blame, by the way, for creating a discussion system in
which it is very difficult to migrate discussions cleanly from one area to
another. This seems to be perhaps the ultimate underlying cause of a lot of
the back-and-forth that's been going on since April-May.

| (...) I agree, I just think that the LUGNET admins were jumping all over the respondants and not so much to Randall. "Taking names" and "check your attitude at the door" and such comments seemed to be fairly aimed at us who wanted to defend the (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jul-04, to lugnet.admin.general)
