Hi! I am a brand new member, so please excuse the confusion if I am asking a FAQ. I am trying to add a password, but cannot get it to work. Anytime I try to add--or even replace--from the password page, it just simply sits there forever. Doesn't (...) (21 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Brady, I've fixed the problem -- although unfortunately I don't understand exactly what was causing the hang-up. It had to do with file locking rather than CPU consumption. I think I have an idea how we can automate this: you fill out a forgotten-password form, and the server sends a confirmation e-mail to you containing a special URL which would be valid for a day or so, after which it would expire. (...) Sounds good. Thanks for the efforts, Todd. I don't like writing down passwords but when you don't have to remember them for, like, a few years, you tend to forget them.
