I do this too, to keep track of information like what sets I have, what I paid
for them, what I have instructions for, and what's missing pieces. (I also
split Theme and Subtheme so it's easier to filter on a whole theme.) I keep it
in Excel, and updating it, even every few weeks, is a real chore. I make new
columns, one for each field, to the left of the existing data, sort both lists
by number, and paste the new list into the blank space. I make an extra column
between them with a formula that compares the data in the "new" columns to the
data in the "old" columns for each row and flags any differences, so then I can
see which rows have mismatched data. If it's a new entry I push down the cells
in the "old" columns only (and my own info) and copy the data across from the
new to the blank cells in the old; if the entry requires changes, I copy the
changes across. When all the cells in the "check" column say "OK", I'm done
and can delete the "new" columns, since they're now the same as the "old" ones.
Whay system do you use, Mike? I'm not sure having an index key would improve
my current system a lot, but if yours is easier to use (or would be, if you had
an index) I'd jump on it!

| I do mine a little differently. I just take the Pause list, print it and then do a line by line compare with the Access database that I use and type the additions in manually. But I don't do it weekly, I do it about once a quarter. There are several (...) (25 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

| Todd, Are the Pause set lists coming from your database now? If so, can you add the index key that you use to the comma delimited files? I download the Pause set list and then use it to update a database that I use to track which sets I have and (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-99, to lugnet.admin.database)
