| | Powco - a new Chinese clone?
| I was in Mr Toys Toyworld at Indooroopilly today. Nothing incredibly exciting there. A bit of this and that. But I did notice what looks like a new Chinese clone brand. I did not have my reading glasses with me (sign of age!) but the brandname (...) (17 years ago, 15-Sep-07, to lugnet.loc.au)

| (...) Old Timers may recall the flap back in '99 over the (URL) LEGODEATH> image originally crafted by "Froggy." A brief (400+ post) thread on RTL can be read (URL), if you're interested. I can't remember what became of that whole issue, but clearly (...) (18 years ago, 3-Jan-07, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

| | Re: Profanity again
| (...) Well, it's only my opinion, but I'd suggest that a "true" clone brand is based on the studs-and-tubes system and is able to maintain reasonable clutch power with LEGO bricks and plates. I used to consider the 3:1 plate:brick height ratio to be (...) (20 years ago, 14-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| | Re: How good does it have to be?
| (...) Good enough to stick together reliably. My definition of reliable is that if I push a model partly off the edge of the table, it shouldn't crumble and fall apart from its own weight, even if it's not completed. (that happened to me with the MB (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| | Re: Wal*Mart truck clone!
| (...) While we're waiting for the picture, here's some other info. First off, a big thank-you to Jeff for the heads up, or I never would have seen it. The truck is a ten-wheeled semi with a turntable mounting. The brick quality is quite good (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jan-03, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

| | Re: Clone Parts (and Color ) Inventories
| (...) Hi Ed, To tell you the truth, as clone goes, I only know MB and Tyco (and a handful of non-compatible brands, like Tente, etc). Tyco did have a very nice fitup (0). MB's is not so good, but it is improving. Now (1) the large round holes in the (...) (20 years ago, 1-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.color, FTX)

| (...) I'm not sure, to be honest. Cobi has existed for some time in Europe (based in Poland) but has only become available in the US very recently, in the wake of the Cobi/Best-Lock merger. Over at (URL) The Bloks Forum> we've been discussing this (...) (18 years ago, 2-Jan-07, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

| | Jason does Brisbane
| I finally got to meet Jason King from Rockhampton, during his visit to Brisbane this weekend. We did the Lego Shopping Tour Of Brisbane [as trademarked by Richie Dulin], consisting of the CBD and Garden City, covering Myer, DJs, Target, Kmart, BigW, (...)
