Re: LEGO Company Welcomes Adult LEGO Enthusiasts

(...) That's the real legal question. One where there may be lots of precedent (in some countries) but may still be taken on a case-by-case basis. The pieces are patented (I'm not clear on LEGO's current patent status, I seem to recall its scope (...) (24 years ago, 10-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: "2001: A Lego Odyssey" - A New Lego Movie!

To Tim and all the others who responded: Thank you so much for your praise! As we all know, half the fun (at least) of creating something is showing it to people who will appreciate it. So keep those comments coming! And Tim, I strongly encourage (...) (24 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.animation)

Re: "2001: A Lego Odyssey" - A New Lego Movie!

I used a Sony MiniDV digital camcorder with a firewire connection to a Mac (Powerbook G3 400 Mhz), iMovie 2 to capture frames, Final Cut Pro to edit the movie (Final Cut Pro can't capture directly from the camera - how annoying!), and Photoshop to (...) I don't mean to assume, but I'm interested in how you did this. Judging by the QT format is it safe to say you used some type of digital video camera (like the every day Hi8 / Digital8 Cameras) and transferred it over firewire to something like (...) Hey Joe, Although my camera also has a "green screen" option, I didn't use it for the movies (so I can't judge whether or not your camera sucks :). That sounds like a good idea. I did that to some extent, using three lamps arrayed around the subject. What I also did was mount the subject at some distance from the screen (on a thin pole), so that the bulk of the shadow falls far away from the (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.animation)
