  Re: DCC slowing?

(...) Steel wool? Wow! I would think that would be a bit harsh on LEGO track and I can imagine lots of fibers getting caught on the studs of the ties as well. I found that using a small dab of Brasso on a cloth rag and running it down the rails (...) (21 years ago, 22-Aug-03, to lugnet.trains)

  I recommend Nevr-Dull myself

It comes in a big dark blue can and looks a big beige cotton ball. You tear off a piece and go to work with that. It takes about as much elbow grease but it doesn't have the very fine grit that is in Brasso. I find it leaves the pieces even shinier (...)   7031 Helicopter question

Hi all, I was looking at 7031, Helicopter, in the store: (URL) and had a question for anyone who owns this set. On the windshield piece, is the white square a sticker or painted on? This set looks like a great way to get upper and lower pieces like (...) (21 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.town)

Re: Wash your LEGO® Geoffrey... with the SOLVOL® Geoffrey...

(...) Wouldn't Solvol still be a bit abrasive? I use Brasso. This seems to be the generally accepted method of lego printing removal, and works a treat. It also leaves a nice shiny finish, but make sure you give it a good rinse afterwards. Allister (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Yes, but that's the point! (...) But it smells! And it is abrasive, too. I've used Brasso® to remove the printing from slopes (among other things)... it happily takes the texture off too. Cheers Richie (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Followup to Proposal of building theme "sequels"

This is fun idea. I've wondered what lies beyond the SW contract for Lego Space. The LoM stuff has sorta grown on me over the last couple years and I've come to miss some the original themes. With the evolution that has come from SW parts, I'm (...) (21 years ago, 29-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

Move over Brasso, Nevr-Dull is the answer!!

Hey all, I've finally reached the end of my quest for the perfect process to remove printing from bricks and yet preserve their glossy finish as much as possible. Nevr-Dull is it! It works quicker than Brasso, is much easier to use, and requires (...) (22 years ago, 5-Apr-03, to lugnet.general)

  Re: MXL Advanced Fighter

Whoa...SWEET! The rust/gray combo is nice, and the engine design is awesome! It looks like it could turn on a dime with that engine design. Where did you get the silverized wedges? Did you brasso the ones from Goblin's flyer? They're a spiffy (...) (21 years ago, 8-Apr-03, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Making non-permanent stickers

I use Avery labels for most everything I have done, generally they come off cleanly. If there is residue, it will rub off with a hand-towel (I keep one on hand for dusting elements anyway).   Re: A few comments on decorated pieces

I have used Brasso in the past. It worked quite well on the large trans-green UFO saucer sections in the Arachnoid Star Base. The thing is, Richard is right. Brasso has its limitations. If TLG implemented better design in their decoration, we (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) On trans-elements, use of Brasso leaves the element slightly cloudy. On those printed 2x2 slopes, printing gets into the crevice running along the sides of the element and is not at all easy to get off even using Brasso. -- Hop-Frog (22 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)
